The perfect hostess, teacher, or neighbor gift for this holiday season. This Cinnamon stick and scrap fabric Christmas tree ornament makes for a quick and easy holiday craft.
Gather all supplies. Unroll Fabric Fat Quarter, plaids are perfect for this craft because of the grid. Make small cuts approximately one inch apart, with scissors, down the length of the fabric using the plaid pattern as a guide. Rip the fabric at the cut marks to expose frayed edges.
Leave the strips 18” long, tie into a square knot leaving a one-inch tail on both sides of the knot, and trim with scissors. Repeat leaving a two-inch tail on either side of the knot and trim with scissors. For the longest tree branch tie a square knot leaving a three-inch tail on either side of the knot and trim with scissors.
Attach knotted fabric branches to the cinnamon stick tree trunk with a glue gun and glue sticks. Smallest at the top and largest at the bottom.
Basecoat small wooden stars with metallic gold acrylic craft paint, let dry. Apply a second coat, if necessary, and set aside to dry.
Attach metallic gold star to the top of the cinnamon stick tree with a glue gun and glue sticks.
To finish, measure and cut an eight-inch length of jute twine, then tie the ends in a knot to create a loop. Flip the cinnamon stick tree over and attach the loop hanger to the top of the tree with a glue gun and glue sticks.
