For my second project pretty for the kitchen I knew I wanted to put up a EAT sign. It would have been a lot easier to just purchase the letters from Hobby Lobby but they didn't have any in the style I wanted. I wanted something chunky and rustic that mixed in with my other home décor. So I do what I always do when I can't afford or find exactly what I want. Make it!
The best thing about this project was that it cost all of nothing. I had leftover wood from a previous project and already had the stain on hand from the pieced woodwork art that I posted earlier this week. The stain is Minwax weathered oak.
Sorry I don't have a full tutorial but it's fairly simple. I just took a extra piece of ¼ inch plywood and drew out the letters. I cut them out with a jigsaw and gave them a little sanding. They didn't come out perfect. They are a little rough around the edges, but I think it went with the rustic feel. I'm ok with it not being perfect for the cost of nothing.
I would even like the letters to be larger but for the space I'm working with these came out nicely.

I love this sign, Melissa. I am thinking of making something similar once I get my kitchen remade the way I want it. Thank you for sharing!! Our Simply Create Link party is going on right now. I would love to have you link up, as I'm sure my followers would like to see your EAT sign too. Hope to see you soon!
