Chewy, gooey white chocolate peppermint rice krispie treats are the perfect bite for any holiday platter!

This photo features a stack of white chocolate peppermint rice krispie treats.

These peppermint rice treats are a fun twist on the traditional favorite.

Tis' the season for peppermint, right?

Ingredients you will need:

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 10oz Bag Mini Marshmallows
  • 6 Cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • ¼ Cup Finely Crushed Peppermint Candies
  • ½ Cup White Chocolate Chips or Chunks

How to make White Chocolate Peppermint Rice Krispie Treats!

If you didn't buy the white chocolate chips and the already crushed peppermint pieces then you will need to first go ahead and prep those out.

Next, go ahead and butter or grease a 13x9 in baking pan.

In a large pot melt the butter over low heat.

Add in your marshmallows and continue heating over low heat, stirring frequently, until marshmallows are completely melted.

Add in the white chocolate and continue heating and stirring until chocolate is melted and well incorporated.

Remove the marshmallow mixture from the heat and stir in rice krispies and crushed peppermints.

Stir well until the cereal is evenly coated with the marshmallow mixture.

Press the mixture into your prepared pan.

If desired sprinkle the top with crushed peppermint. Melt additional white chocolate in a double boiler and drizzle it across the top.

Allow to cool at least half an hour to an hour before cutting.

Why did my Rice Crispy Treats turn out hard?

Having your heat up too high is almost always the reason for having hard rice krispie treats. Yes, it will take a few more minutes of cook time, but always melt the butter and marshmallows over low heat.

How do you keep Rice Krispie treats from going stale?

Rice Krispie Treats will stay fresh for up to a week if stored in an airtight container but they begin to lose their peak freshness after only a couple days. Using salted butter will also help them stay fresh a little longer.
