Popsicle Stick Carrot Craft for Kids

By: Melissa Coleman Last Updated: Oct 13, 2023 This post may contain affiliate links.

Get creative this Easter with your little ones and make a popsicle stick carrot craft!

It's a great way to spend quality time together and create something fun.

Popsicle Stick Carrot mixed in with Easter eggs.

Materials you will need:

  • Craft Sticks, Jumbo
  • Cardstock, Green
  • Ribbon, Orange Gingham (you can substitute for an orange patterned paper)
  • Natural Jute Twine (optional)
  • Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
  • Acrylic Craft Paint – Orange and White
  • Recycled Cardboard Box – Think Cereal Box (or you can just use cardstock for this as well)
  • Paintbrush
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Carrot and Top Pattern - I think using your kids' drawn hand would work better, but if you can't, here is a hand pattern and a triangle for the paper sizing.

How to Make a Popsicle Stick Carrot Craft for Kids!

STEP ONE

Gather all your supplies. To create the carrot shape, lay out three jumbo craft sticks in a triangle shape. Attach the corners with a glue gun and glue sticks.

You can use liquid craft glue for this project, but you must wait for it to dry before moving on to the other steps.

STEP TWO

Basecoat the front and sides of the jumbo popsicle sticks with orange acrylic craft paint.

Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

STEP THREE

Download and print the patterns if desired. Cut out patterns with scissors.

Trace the triangle carrot shape twice onto a cardboard box for cereal or crackers. Cut out the triangles with scissors.

Basecoat the cardboard box triangles with white acrylic craft paint. Let dry, and apply a second coat, if necessary.

If you already have white cardstock on hand you can use it. We just used the cereal box to recycle something we already had on hand.

STEP FOUR

Trace the hand shape twice onto green cardstock and cut it out with scissors.

This is an excellent opportunity to trace your child’s hand to create a keepsake craft.

You can also use construction paper, craft foam, or craft felt for this project.

STEP FIVE

Attach the orange and white gingham ribbon in rows to the white cardboard triangles with a glue gun and glue sticks.

Trim any long ribbon ends with scissors.

Glue the gingham triangles into the jumbo craft stick frame with a glue gun and glue sticks.

If you don't have any orange ribbon on hand but have orange construction paper or orange patterned scrapbook paper you can definitely use that instead.

STEP SIX

Attach the two green hand cutouts together with a glue gun and glue sticks to create the carrot fronds.

Glue the green carrot fronds to the top center of the back of the carrots.

STEP SEVEN

This step is optional but I do think it adds a cute finishing touch.

Tie natural jute twine in a bow and attach it to the top center of the Popsicle Stick Carrot with a glue gun and glue sticks.

You can add names to these bright and colorful craft stick carrots to create place cards for your Easter dinner table or attach a magnet to the back to make an adorable fridge decor.
