Popsicle Stick & Coffee Filter Angel

By: Melissa Coleman Last Updated: Sep 22, 2023 This post may contain affiliate links.

This popsicle stick angel craft combines simple popsicle sticks with coffee filters to create a beautiful and adorable angel.

This photo features various popsicle stick angel crafts created using the tutorial in this post.

This craft is budget friendly as you can get just about everything you need at the dollar store and can create multiple angels from a single purchase of supplies.

That makes this popsicle stick angel crafts for kids a great idea for the classroom, Sunday school, co-op homeschool project, etc.

Supplies you will need for creating a popsicle stick angel

  • Coffee filters
  • Jumbo craft sticks
  • Markers - brown, yellow, black, red
  • Shiny pipe cleaners - assorted colors
  • Pen
  • White yarn
  • Glue stick
  • Glue dots (or hot glue)
  • Scissors

How do you make an angel out of Popsicle sticks?

Begin by drawing hair on the tip of a jumbo craft stick with the marker color of your choosing.

Use a pen to draw on a simple set of eyes and an open mouth. The open mouth makes it look like the popsicle stick angel is singing. If you would rather you can just make a smiling face.

Next, cut a pipe cleaner in half.

Bend half the pipe cleaner in a circle and twist around itself to secure it.

Use the glue dots to adhere the halo to the back of the craft stick. You could also use a little hot glue, whatever you have on hand.

Now, fold a coffee filter in half, then in half again. Cut just the very tip of the coffee filter off.

Open the coffee filter to where it’s folded in half just once and insert the craft stick into the hole.

Wrap the remainder of the coffee filter around the craft stick and cut a small strand of white yarn and wrap around the waist. Tie to secure.

Lastly, cut another coffee filter in half. Cut that half in half again and finally cut the tips off the halves and glue to the back for wings.
